in English language Work-life balance This diploma thesis explores various (international, European, and Czech) legal sources and practices related to work-life balance. The changes brought by the Directive (EU) 2019/1158 of the European parliament and of the Council of 20 June 2019 on work-life balance for parents and carers are also taken into account throughout the thesis. The historical development of working time is analysed, as well as its current status in modern society and expectations for the future. Different forms of flexible working arrangements, such as flexible working hours, job-sharing, and homeworking, are discussed in detail, along with the benefits and drawbacks of each. The thesis also covers part-time jobs and their role in promoting work-life balance. The role of obstacles to work on the employee's side in balancing their personal and work life is also described, particularly those related to life events such as childbirth and caring for children or close family members. This includes maternity leave, paternity leave, parental leave, carer's leave (caring for a family or household member) and long-term care. Vliv pandemie koronaviru na pracovněprávní vztahy Abstrakt Diplomová práce se zabývá vlivem pandemie koronaviru na pracovněprávní vztahy. Cílem práce je zaměřit se na právní instituty, které se ocitly v centru zájmu v souvislosti s příchodem pandemie a posoudit, zda právní úprava byla dostatečná a jaký dopad měla na adresáty právních norem. Diplomová práce je rozdělena do sedmi kapitol. První kapitola je zaměřena na překážky v práci praktikované na situace, které vyvstaly s příchodem pandemie. Tato kapitola klade důraz na otázku, kdo nese, popř. by měl nést náklady za negativní dopady způsobené pandemií. Druhá, třetí a čtvrtá kapitola se věnují jednotlivým subjektům a míře, jakou byly dotčeny pandemií Covidu-19. Druhá kapitola se zaměřuje na zaměstnance pracující distančně a možné potíže, které jsou s prací mimo pracoviště zaměstnavatele spojené. Třetí kapitola se zabývá právním postavením povolaných studentů, kterým byla za nouzového stavu nařízena pracovní povinnost a vhodností využití tohoto institutu. Předmětem kapitoly čtvrté jsou pak zaměstnavatelé a jejich nárok na státní pomoc. The rigorous thesis deals with the legal regulation of the obstacles to work on the part of the employee in connection with the coronavirus crisis in the Czech Republic. The goal of the rigorous thesis is not only to provide for detailed legal analysis, but also address both practical and legal implications of the coronavirus pandemic with respect to the selected obstacles to work on the part of the employee. Furthermore, the purpose of the rigorous thesis is to identify and point out legal ambiguities within the legislation concerned with the selected obstacles to work on the part of the employee with the emphasis on the newly adopted pieces of legislation in response to the coronavirus pandemic. In addition, the thesis also aims to provide for author's suggestions for legislative improvements when deemed appropriate. The rigorous thesis consists of eleven chapters. Work Life Balance in Czech and European Union law Abstract Work-life balance is an important political and legal instrument with a significant impact on the employment rate, birth rate, work productivity and other key indicators. This thesis deals with the concept of work-life balance in the legal framework of the Czech Republic as well as the European Union, focusing on workers with care responsibilities. The aim of the thesis is to analyze legal instruments in favour of work-life balance, identify their shortcomings, consider possible ways of overcoming such limitations and assess the EU legal framework's impact on the national legal framework. Work-life balance is closely linked to the concept of equal treatment between women and men. For this reason, the thesis focuses on legal instruments that are gender-neutral or that can contribute to overcoming the traditional perception of women as primary carers. The examined legal instruments were also selected based on their relevance in terms of ongoing discussions on both national and EU level. Title of thesis: Obstacles to work on the employee's part Author: Mgr. Petra Koubová Abstract The rigorosum thesis seeks to carry out a comprehensive analysis of the different kinds of "obstacles to work on the employee's part". This subject is treated as generally associated with labor relations as well as with the obstacles at large and their systematic classification. Chosen out of a broad spectrum of individual types, the obstacles thus analyzed were primarily those with particular personal and/or family relevance for employees, especially the temporary incapacity for work; the maternity leave; and the parental leave. These topics were addressed not only in their matter and purpose but also as regards their impact on financial security and other circumstances. Covering also other obstacles to work, the analysis attempted to expound the merits and purposes of the relevant provisions, always in consideration of (1) the specific Labor Code context, (2) the generally applicable legal principles, and (3) other acts of legislation and judicial decisions. Facts limiting work performance

The topic of the submitted diploma thesis are matters which restrict the performance of work activity as legal facts which cause a temporary suspension of work obligation. Therefore it interferes fundamentally into the labor-law relationship between the employee and the employer. As no employment contract is carried out, it brings along significant effects, especially on the social status of the employee. At the same time the employer faces difficulties connected with organization of assignments as well as increased costs of workforce. The author of the thesis strives for a comprehensive description of this issue. In the first part of the thesis she gets a understanding of general definition of obstacles at work and their consequences in the labor-law relationship. The impact of obstacles on the stability of the employment, trial period and vacation is described in detail. In the next part of the thesis the author deals with the current law concerning individual obstacles at work. Diploma thesis deals with payroll accounting in terms of labor law, health, social security and payroll taxes. The aim is to show how the wage is calculated with respect to the current legislation in 2014 and to clarify what influences the amount of net monthly income of employees. An important part of this work is to compare the calculation of wages of Slovak and Czech employees and analysis of the differences in their net income.

The topic of this thesis is Work Obstacles. In the theoretical part it is focused on general characteristics of the term "labour-law relations" and on the work obstacles in comparison with Union regulations. Work obstacles occur in every labour-law relation. They can arise on an employer or employee's side. Furthermore, the thesis deals with the impact of work obstacles on holidays and probationary period. The practical part is concerned with accounting and a demonstration of particular examples calculation in case the work obstacles appear. Another part of the practical section consists of questionnaire survey in a small and large company and in a relevant office.

This bachelor's thesis focuses on the legal aspect of Obstacles to Work on the Employee Side in Czech labour law. The aim of the thesis is to provide a comprehensive overview and evaluation of the legislation on this issue. The thesis contains the obstacles to work according to the Czech Labour Code as well as the topic of financial assistance during the obstacles. The last chapter aims at common practice and opinion based on results of survey accomplished amongst employees. Conclusion of the thesis includes also recommendations that could lead to the improvement of the legislation.
